My Journey With Blindness

“If the act of photography emerges from the dark intimacy of thoughts, why the idea of a blind photographer appears to be a paradox?”

In the project My Journey With Blindness, I deal with different stages of sight loss. The project develops a poetic rhythm amongst the photographs depicting the phases of living with blindness. From childhood memories, interpretation of certain early life events entwined with my ability to see and the changes in visual perception.

The connection I have with my project is deep. I lost my vision in the right eye when I was around ten years old. I am sure my brain omitted years of being blind for many reasons that are not worth explaining now. I paid no attention to it back then. Nevertheless, as time passed, I started noticing minor changes in my interactions with reality.

For the moment, the project ends with written texts that somehow explain aspects I have not been able to turn into photographs yet, for various reasons. My Journey With Blindness is a project that will be developed gradually.
